Located in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country, Blanco offers excellent hunting and fishing opportunities year-round. San Antonio (home of the Alamo), is less than an hour away, providing beautiful and historical sightseeing. Austin (the state's capitol), is about an hour away and has great tourism opportunities as well. In Blanco, there are 2 motels the students can reside at during their education. One is directly across the street, and the other is only two blocks away. Some students prefer to bring their R/V, camper, or tent and stay at the gorgeous Blanco State Park, on the Blanco River. At the park, no fishing license is required, and bass, catfish and perch can be caught all year long. During the winter months, rainbow trout are stocked in the river, and there is no limit on size with a daily bag limit of five. Blanco is surrounded by game ranches and all species of exotics can be hunted year-round. Blanco is certainly a sportsman's paradise with unlimited opportunities.
From San Antonio, take hwy. 281 north approximately 45 miles to Blanco, Texas.
From Austin, take hwy. 290 west to hwy.281. Then head south on hwy. 281 for 8 miles to Blanco, Texas. Blanco Taxidermy School is located at 1201 Main street (hwy.281), about 1 mile north of the Blanco River.
